Established in 1984 in the city of Akashi, White Oak Distillery is part of the Eigashima Shuzo company, which became known for the production of sake and shochu. From 1984, whiskey production was relocated to the new distillery and concentrated there. Malt whiskey is produced on two stills, which is later bottled as such or combined with purchased grain whiskey.

Akashi Blue Label first matured for an undefined period in a combination of and former bourbon and shochu sake casks and then received a post-maturation in sherry casks. Bottled with a mild 40 % vol. alcohol.

Aroma: Mix of fresh citrus fruits, cereals and oak wood, accompanied by mild spices.

Flavour: Fresh and fruity with lemons and pears, sweet with honey, hints of almonds and wood.

For this Rare Cask bottling, various oak casks with a deep ruby red color in which the malt matured. The Macallan distillery collaborated with violinist Nicola Benedetti for this edition.

Aroma: Soft notes of vanilla with rich hints of raisins. A sweet combination of fresh apple, lemon and orange follows.

Flavour: Intense facets of sweet raisins dominate, followed by notes of vanilla and dark chocolate, followed by citrus zest.
